Inclusive Training - Disability Equality Training London

July 1st, 2008 by TAW

Disability Equality Training London
These courses introduce disability equality issues. They consist of an activity based day in a relaxed atmosphere employing quizzes, role playing, model making sessions, case studies and scenario discussions. Lynn Cox is an established freelance Disability Equality Trainer and an artist. She has worked with major disability and arts organisations including Shape, the Serpentine Gallery and the Art House. Individual artists and those who administer and manage cultural organisations are encouraged to learn the modern concepts and the latest requirements of Disability Access. For that specific audience Lynn has developed a series of accessible training sessions. These sessions will inform and help individuals gain confidence to fulfil their potential, to recognise the requirements of disabled/visually impaired people and to ensure those requirements are met. The training sessions will be held at Pocklington Resource Centre, 1C Yukon Road, London SW12 9PZ at 10:30am to 4:30pm . The scheduled events are: Wednesday 13 December

Corey Mwamba at Derby Dance, Fri 17 Nov 8pm

June 26th, 2008 by TAW

Corey Mwamba at Derby Dance, Fri 17 Nov 8pm
Corey Mwamba gives a piece of his mind at the launch of his new album, Sipping Rioja at Home
Derby Dance is excited to welcome musician and composer Corey Mwamba to celebrate the launch of his new album ‘Sipping Rioja at Home’ on Friday 17 November at 8pm. Tickets are =A35 and available from Derby Dance Box Office on 01332 370911.
Joining Corey as he takes a rambling exploration through love, life, music and meetings will be Symbiosis Ensemble, who will play an acoustic version of the album, and Derby Dance’s very own performance group Chaos, who have choreographed several new pieces for the launch.
Corey Mwamba is of an exciting new generation of composers and musicians in improvised and contemporary music, as well as a committed advocate for culture and heritage in the East Midlands. His main instruments are the vibraphone and dulcimer, although he also uses electronics. He has recently been selected for this year’s Jerwood/PRS Foundation ‘Take Five’ Initiative, an award that is designed to give some of the UK’s most talented young jazz musicians the opportunity to discuss, explore and strengthen all aspects of their future careers.
The Symbiosis Ensemble is a group of local likeminded musicians whose performances include Decibel Live and the Darley Park World Music Day last year. Performing at the launch are Alix Hoste (flute and treble recorder), Alan Jenkins (bass and soprano clarinets), Andrew Maclean (soprano and tenor saxophones), Oli Matthews (soprano, tenor saxophones and clarinet), Mark Miller (trombone), Kate Rounding (flute) and Jon Samsworth (electric and acoustic guitar).
Since its inception in 2002, Chaos has gone from strength to strength. The group, made up of like minded dance fanatics who either work or play in the dance field, meet together weekly to develop their technical and choreographic skills and celebrate their dance diversity.
Tickets for the launch of Corey’s new album ‘Sipping Rioja at Home’ are
