Artsplan London Training Courses 2007, press release
Artsplan announces London training courses for 2007!
Artsplan, the training and publications arm of Artswork, the national youth arts development agency, is pleased to announce its schedule of courses in London for 2007.
The courses available have already been run successfully during the past year and represent a diverse selection of the wide range of training and resources Artsplan has available. Run at Paddington Arts, the regional Artsplan Training Centre for London, they include two 1-day creative workshops - ‘Access All Areas: Disability and Youth Arts’ and ‘Creatively Challenged: Working in Youth Arts’ - as well as a rare opportunity to gain accredited youth arts training via the 6-day, ‘Young People, the Arts and Social Inclusion’ course.
Artsplan is the largest provider of specialist youth arts training courses and publications in the UK, and the in-house training provider of ENYAN (English National Youth Arts Network). All Artsplan trainers involved have a wide range of skills, experience and understanding developed whilst working within the Youth Arts sector.
The 6-day ‘Young People, the Arts and Social Inclusion’ course is accredited with Middlesex University. It provides an induction into the benefits of using the arts with socially excluded young people, and the tools, skills and knowledge to needed to run a successful youth arts project within this context. The course is split into 6 units over a total of 30 hours contact with a trainer, with another 90 hours of research and assignment time expected. The maximum 15 participants will receive relevant Artsplan publication resources as part of the course. Assessment is covered in three ways by a journal from the participant, a written assignment and a discussion on their practice and relevant future plans. The course will run on the 26/27th April, 24/25th May and 21/22nd June 2007.
‘Access All Areas: Disability and Youth Arts’ is a 1-day creative workshop, developed in Partnership with Dada South. It is designed to encourage a broader exploration of equal opportunities with young arts. Participants will develop an understanding of the importance of inclusive practice and explore practical ways of ensuring youth arts projects are genuinely inclusive to young disabled people. The course will run 28th Sept 2007.
‘Creatively Challenged’ is a 1-day induction course specific to new youth arts workers. Jam packed with inspiration, motivation, information and guidance for those new to the sector, it is designed to give participants a brief tour of the issues, opportunities and pitfalls that may come their way, equipping you with the confidence and skills needed to succeed within youth arts. The course will run 2nd November 2007.
Full ENYAN members receive 10% off on all bookings and the opportunity to purchase the Upstart Youth Arts Directory at a special price. The definitive resource for Youth Arts in the UK, the Youth Arts Directory offers a comprehensive guide to funders, organisations, practitioners, partners, training, qualifications, and resources with an overview of the year in youth arts. Limited Bursaries are also available.
