Afrocats and Community Arts North West present:
Where is Home?
Happy Birthday….. You’re 18…. Time to go home….
Home was somewhere you left when you were 14. Home was the back of a lorry for 14 days. Home is now here in the UK. Today you’re 18 and a letter from the Home Office tells you to go back….home? A ‘home’ that you may not even remember…
Or a ‘home’ that doesn’t remember you…
Where is Home? explores the human dimension behind one of the most controversial political issues of our time, at a time when asylum is a headline in every tabloid newspaper you read. Where is Home? shares the real stories of this newer generation of young refugees and asylum seekers through powerful performance featuring African/Caribbean dance, spoken word, drama and music by Pa Pa Sam Maitland.
Where is Home? explores what it is to be young in the continuing aftermath of the African Diaspora - telling what is a complex, emotional and at times traumatic young people’s narrative.
Where is Home? tours to the Robert Powell Theatre as part of the Exodus Onstage Refugee Theatre Season 14 November- 4 December 2006 (see http://www.can.uk.com/exodus for full details or request your free Exodus Onstage Season brochure by emailing mailto:admin@can.uk.com ).
