Artsplan launches new Distanced Learning Course!
Artsplan, the training and publications arm of Artswork, the national youth arts development agency, is pleased to launch a new Distanced Learning Course, ‘Working Together - Using the Arts with Young People’.
Already a successful one day workshop, the course provides an overview of the benefits of using the arts with young people, outside of formal education. The new Distanced Learning version now provides greater flexibility and opportunities for those looking to develop their skills and knowledge in this area, with a lower price, one-on-one mentoring and extensive supporting material.
Artsplan is the largest provider of specialist youth arts training courses and publications in the UK, and the in-house training provider of ENYAN (English National Youth Arts Network). All training and publications are written and supported by experienced youth arts specialists, currently involved in a variety of project work through the UK.
The course involves a combination of workbook exercises, self-evaluation and trainer/mentor time to be completed at your own pace over a period of 6 weeks. The one-on-one mentor time is more personal and practical, fitting in with existing commitments. Ideal for those new to using the arts with young people in any setting, the course will start with an exploration of the term ‘youth arts’, progressing towards developing an understanding of the key ingredients needed to run a successful youth arts project.
As Jay Barron, the Artsplan Development Manager explains: ‘Many people are unable to access essential training due to financial and time related barriers. Through initiatives such as the Distanced Learning Course, Artsplan is seeking to remove those barriers, providing greater opportunities for everyone working with young people to develop valuable skills to assist in their roles.’
The course is available at a range of prices, depending on circumstance. The substantial supporting material includes the celebrated ‘Youth Arts Learning Passport’, your own workbook/log book to keep and a certificate of attendance. Overall, it is a package designed to offer greater flexibility within creative development. If the course is successful Artswork hope to be able to offer the full range of Artsplan courses within the distanced learning format in the future.
