Who do you think could be an ambassador for poetry in South Cumbria in 2007?
This will be the fifth year of the Poet Laureateship, which has an illustrious history, remarkable for an individuality of approach and notable for effectiveness.
*The Poets Laureate were:*
1. in 2003 the late John Irwin from Millom, whose witty wordplay had us in stitches; 2. in 2004, Lucy Crispin from Kendal, who is not afraid of self-revelation in both a serious and an amusingly musical voice; 3. in 2005, Jennifer Copley from Barrow: whose poetic imagination reaches parts that other poets long to find; 4. in 2006 Ann Wilson, also from Barrow: whose creative talent inspires groundbreaking collaboration and sock-it-to-us performance.
Who is the local poet most able to follow in their footsteps? The only requirement is that they be resident in South Cumbria.
