Tuesday 21 & Wednesday 22 November 7.30pm ?10/?6 Afternoon performance Wednesday 22 November 1.30pm
Directed by Rod Dixon. Design Nat Tarrab
Set in contemporary Britain, using rich poetic language Kaahini reveals the dreams, aspirations and frustrations of adolescence exploring questions of gender and identity.
Esha is in football training and dreams of winning the cup. His parents worry but only want what’s best for him. Meanwhile, his best friend, Farooq dreams of girls and hanging out at ‘Juicys’. Then there’s the mysterious Kaahini…
The past merges with the present, cultures collide and destiny unfolds Kaahini’s secret.
“A surprising, tender and beautifully observed play, which manages the elusive feat of exploring gender and cultural politics in a thought-provoking way without ever distracting from the passionate heart of its story. A play, which deserves to be seen by as many young people as possible.”
John E McGrath, Artistic Director, Contact, Manchester
” Real people, real culture………inspiring.” Marina Nenadic aged 15
