Brighton Fringe Open for business
Yes it’s that time of year again when the Fringe ask all artists, musicians, creative’s, thespians, promoters, venue managers - well everyone really! to start thinking about what they will be doing in May next year!?
With basic costs for registration staying the same yet again next year the Fringe are doing all they can to make the next Festival the best one ever to get involved in.
‘Interest in putting on events starts earlier and earlier each year; the phones have started ringing already with promoters, venue managers and artists from around the world, all wondering how to get involved and we haven’t even launched registration! It’s very exciting and it says to me that we are now well and truly on the map!’
Holly Payton Operations Manager
In the pipeline so far is a bigger brochure, expanding it by 8 pages with a fold out map of Brighton at the back. An extended Venues section listing all the events that are on under each venue; the listing will have an outline of its facilities, accessibility and more. And don’t forget the exciting new cover you’ll have to wait till March for that!
The Fringe is currently seeking funding for a showcase street party on the first Saturday of the month, giving performers a chance to show the audience who they are and what they do, and starting the Fringe off with a bang. It will have a great party atmosphere and get audiences excited about what’s coming up!
A new Friends scheme is being set up, giving those who join a chance of priority booking, launch invites, competitions and much more. Please see the ‘Why to Fringe’ document for all the benefits.
There will be a brand new Visual Arts section - revamped and redesigned merging the previous Open house, Exhibition and Art Hotels sections. All exhibitions regardless of what type they are will be in areas of Brighton & Hove with easily navigable maps to show you where to go. There will be symbols to identify an Open house, a galley or a cafe etc.
At last the Fringe became officially independent of the Brighton Festival on the first of September so the Fringe team have been busy with setting up all that goes with being a stand alone company! The Fringe are also proud to have won BEST CULTURAL EVENT 2007 at the Brighton and Hove Business Awards at the beginning of September. Other nominations in the category were Spiegeltent and the Streets of Brighton.
