IMTAL-Europe training day London, Friday 24 November 2006
Live Interpretation as a responsible, adaptable interpretive tool to communicate curatorial aims
Curators and Interpretation Managers, academics and practitioners from some of the country’s leading heritage sites and museums will gather in Chelsea to discuss why they support Live Interpretation in their work.
Who is it for? Curators or managers who are not sure about the efficacy and value of live interpretation. Practitioners who want some evidence to back up their belief that live interpretation and museum theatre have a place in heritage places and museums.
What will the day involve? Explanation of why sites value live interpretation from senior curators at the National Army Museum and Historic Royal Palaces; an insight into the Manchester University project investigating drama as a learning tool in museums; evidence from the converted - account of how initially negative views on live interpretation were confounded by seeing good practice in action!
There will be a brief demonstration of techniques employed at the site and a chance to try out the efficacy of different communication methods.
How Much, When, Where?
The fee for the day is £25 to include refreshments and sandwich lunch (including vegetarian options). IMTAL Members fee is £20.
Friday 24 November 2006, 11am - 4pm.
The National Army Museum, Royal Hospital Road, Chelsea, London SW3 4HT.
